The trial for an Omaha assault suspect whose arrest was captured on video and led to controversy over alleged police brutality was continued to next month on Friday.
Robert A. Wagner, 35, is charged with third-degree assault on an officer. His trial was moved to Jan. 17.
Wagner’s attorney, J. William Gallup, called the new date fitting because it is the day following Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
While the motion was routine, Gallup said he was surprised to see about 30 Occupy Omaha protesters filling the courtroom benches in support of Wagner.
