Acclaimed jazz trumpeter Chris Botti returns to the Holland Performing Arts Center Saturday for the first performance in Omaha Performing Arts’ 2011-12 Jazz Series.
He last played in Omaha in 2007 for OPA’s New Year’s Eve celebration.
The musician, 49, has performed or recorded with Paul Simon, Sting, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Josh Groban, Bob Dylan, Andrea Bocelli and Joshua Bell.
Since his first solo album in 1995, he has sold more than 3 million albums worldwide, earned four Grammy nominations and is the winner of a National Smooth Jazz Award.
Botti (pronounced boat-tee) spends a lot of time on the road — at least 250 days a year — touring internationally as well as in this country. His next concert after Omaha is in Kuala Lampur on Tuesday, according to the schedule listed on his website.
Tickets for Saturday’s 8 p.m. concert start at $25 and can be purchased at the Ticket Omaha box office in the Performing Arts Center, online at TicketOmaha.com or by calling 402-345-0606.
