U-turn crash injures trooper

A Nebraska state trooper suffered a broken pelvis when his patrol car was struck by a vehicle in Merrick County.

Trooper Jonathan Kroeger, 40, of Dannebrog was in serious condition Saturday at BryanLGH West Medical Center in Lincoln, said Deb Collins, a spokeswoman for the State Patrol.

The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. Friday.

Kroeger was westbound on Highway 30 near Silver Creek when he clocked an eastbound motorist who was speeding.

As he made a U-turn to catch up to the speeding vehicle, his 2008 Crown Victoria cruiser was hit on the driver’s side by a westbound 1997 Chevy Blazer.

Kroeger is an 11-year veteran of the State Patrol and operates out of Grand Island.

The driver of the Chevy Blazer, Jeremie Finke, 32, of Milligan was treated at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island and released.
