LINCOLN -- Gov. Dave Heineman on Friday appointed Omaha lawyer Michael D. Nelson to be a new county court judge in Douglas County.
Nelson, 47, has practiced law for 20 years in Nebraska and heads his own firm, Nelson Law in Omaha.
In 2009, Nelson was awarded an alumni achievement award from the University of Nebraska at Omaha School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of Creighton University School of Law. He and his wife, Debra Nelson, have 3 children.
Nelson will replace Douglas County Judge Lyn White, who retired from the bench.
