Dancers will showcase their pointed toes and pointed teeth during Friday's performance of "Dracula.
Ballet Nebraska is merging the terror and thrills of Bram Stoker's gothic novel with the elegance and grace of ballet in an inventive new performance choreographed by Winthrop Corey.
"Dracula" is an extravagant and visually lavish production taking the audience from an elegant masquerade ball, to a dark and creepy crypt, to a massive and mysterious Transylvanian castle.
With intricate set designs and elaborate costumes, this is one of Ballet Nebraska's biggest performances yet.
Count Dracula is one of the most famous characters in literature, being portrayed as both a sinister, blood-thirsty monster in famous adaptations like "Nosferatu" and "Dracula" with Bela Lugosi, and a mournful, romantic nobleman, like Gary Oldman's Count in "Bram Stoker's Dracula." Ballet Nebraska hopes to show both sides of the complex undead prince with this performance.
The production will star Sasha York as Count Dracula and Natasha Grimm as Mina.
