The Federal Emergency Management Agency will open a disaster recovery center in Council Bluffs on Wednesday.
The office will be in the Red Cross building at the Lakin Human Services Campus, 705 N. 16th St.
FEMA officials announced the opening at Monday's meeting of the Council Bluffs City Council.
The center will be open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Council Bluffs residents affected by the summer flooding are urged to register before visiting the center. They can register by calling, toll free, 800-621-3362, or to online at www.disasterassistance.gov.
Residents don't need to personally visit the center if they register by phone or online, FEMA officials said. After registering, the homeowner should be contacted within two days for an appointment with an inspector, officials said.
