A 63-year-old Farwell, Neb., man was killed Monday morning when the pickup truck he was driving collided with the back end of a school bus that had stopped to pick up students, the Nebraska State Patrol said.
No one on the bus from St. Paul Public Schools was injured, the state patrol said.
The victim, Robert Swanson, had been traveling east on Nebraska Highway 2 when the 2001 Dodge pickup truck he was driving hit the bus one mile west of Farwell, northwest of Grand Island. The level of the sun at the time may have hindered Swanson’s vision, investigators said.
The bus had six passengers and the driver, 46-year-old Daryl Teter of St. Paul, on board.
