LINCOLN — Two touchdowns in a span of nine seconds helped Nebraska start pulling away to a 51-38 victory over Washington on Saturday, stopping one of the longest current winning streaks in college football and avenging the Huskers' last loss.

I-back Rex Burkhead scored both TDs on 1-yard runs in the third quarter as Nebraska turned a 20-17 lead into a 34-17 advantage.

The Huskers, ranked 10th and 11th, improved to 3-0. They also got even with Washington for an embarrassing 19-7 loss to the Huskies in the Holiday Bowl last December.
