River opens: Authorities have reopened stretches of the Missouri River in South Dakota, Nebraska and Missouri to boat traffic. The Coast Guard announced Saturday that the river is open from just below Gavins Point Dam in Yankton, S.D., to the southern border of Ponca State Park in Nebraska. The river is also open to boats from St. Louis to about 10 miles upriver from Kansas City, Mo.
Cleanup kits: The American Red Cross will distribute flood cleanup kits and other supplies in Nebraska's Burt, Washington, Cass and Sarpy Counties on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Red Cross asks that only families whose homes have been affected by flooding pick up kits, as there is a limited supply.
The distribution schedule:
Tuesday: Burt County, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Community Center, 923 S. Broadway, Decatur; Washington County, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sheriff's Office, 1535 Colfax St., Blair.
Wednesday: Sarpy/Cass, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fire Department Training Site, 3100 Cornhusker Road, Bellevue.
