WICHITA, Kan. — Brothers Kenzo and Kurtis Cotton of the Bellevue Breeze Track Club led Nebraska Association athletes Sunday during the final day of the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics.
Kurtis Cotton won his second event of the meet by taking the title in the midget boys (ages 11-12) 100-meter dash in 11.71 seconds, just 0.02 seconds from the Nebraska Association record.
Kenzo Cotton set an association record in the intermediate boys (15-16) 100 in 10.87, topping the previous best of 11.07 set by Radell Nared of Omaha in 2008.
The Cottons are sons of former Nebraska football player Curtis Cotton.
The other Nebraska Association record set was by LaQue Moen-Davis of the Midwest Striders, who finished third in the young women’s (17-18) 100 hurdles in 14.10. Her time of 13.82 in the semifinals bettered the previous association record of 13.89 she had shared with Alex Gochenour.

Young Men: Javelin: 6, Jon Williams, CFTC, 183-3. NOTE: Results for the Young Men’s 1,600 relay with the Bellevue Breeze weren’t available at press time.
