MINDEN, Neb. — An 85-year-old Wilcox, Neb., man was killed Thursday in a traffic accident just east of Axtell near the U.S. Highway 34 and 6 junction with Nebraska Highway 44.
Harold Loschen was killed when he attempted to make a U-turn after pulling to the side of U.S. Highway 34 and 6 about 5:55 p.m. and his 1994 Cadillac was struck in the driver’s side by a Dodge Ram pickup. The truck’s driver, Thomas Remmenga, 48, of Bertrand, was westbound and had been following Loschen. Remmenga was not injured.
A passenger in Loschen’s Cadillac, Rosie Loschen, 84, of Wilcox, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Authorities said both motorists and the passenger in the accident were wearing seat belts.
The Kearney County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol were investigating the crash.
