New site for Berkshire book, ice cream event

The annual opportunity for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders to meet authors, buy their books and indulge in a little ice cream has outgrown its traditional home at a local Dairy Queen store.

Creighton value investing discussion

Creighton University’s College of Business Administration will hold a value investing panel discussion leading up to Berkshire Hathaway’s meeting Saturday.

The panel will feature Bruce Greenwald, a Columbia University professor and authority on value investing who is known as the “guru to Wall Street gurus.” The panel will be part of the college’s portfolio practicum class.

The event is from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the Harper Center, 20th and California Streets, and is free and open to the public.

Business Wire to aid charity

Business Wire Inc. will mark its 50th anniversary and raise money for charity during the annual meeting by selling commemorative “passports” and coins tied to the meeting’s “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” theme.

Sales revenue will go to Court Appointed Special Advocates, a Douglas County group that works for abused and neglected children in the court system. The Berkshire company is donating the cost of the materials.

The passport booklets, for a suggested $5 donation, have “travel” stamps and mashed pennies with images of Berkshire Chairman Warren Buffett, Vice Chairman Charlie Munger and Business Wire CEO Cathy Baron Tamraz.
