‘Blue Planet’ show indulges the senses

Few of us will ever see ocean life up close and personal. Even fewer will have the sweet sounds of a symphony as background music if we do go scuba-diving.

The Omaha Symphony will create that experience this Friday and Saturday, however, when it presents video footage from the popular BBC/Discovery TV series “The Blue Planet,” complemented by live orchestration and narration.

Stunning underwater images will be projected on a big screen above the stage at the Holland Performing Arts Center. The orchestra, meanwhile, will play a lush, live soundtrack. Local TV personality Dave Webber will be the narrator.

The concert is the orchestra’s final Sights & Sounds program this season. Performances will begin at 8 each night at the Holland, 1200 Douglas St. Tickets, $15 to $65, are available at 402-342-3560, 402-345-0606 or omahasymphony.org.
