LINCOLN — Nebraska added a tight end to its 2011 football recruiting class, already heavy on offensive talent, Thursday from Darien Bryant of Pickerington, Ohio.

Bryant accepted the NU scholarship offer after receiving a visit from NU tight ends coach Ron Brown, according to rivals.com. He is the 19th player known to have pledged to Nebraska.

The Huskers' class includes five offensive linemen, two quarterbacks, one running back and one receiver. Bryant picked the Huskers over Hawaii and North Carolina but also considered offers from Big Ten schools Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Illinois.

He is the third NU recruit this year from Ohio, joining linebacker Max Pirman of Orrville, Ohio, and defensive tackle Kevin Williams of Holland, Ohio.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Bryant visited Nebraska to watch the Huskers play Missouri on Oct. 30.

Rivals.com rates him as the nation's 27th-best tight end prospect and 46th among all player in Ohio.

He caught 18 passes for 248 yards as a senior at Pickerington North High School.
