8:50 p.m.: Adam Emmenecker gave many a Creighton basketball fan indigestion when he led Drake to the Missouri Valley championship and the NCAA tournament in 2008.
Tune in Wednesday night to see if a sandwich named for Emmenecker can put a queasy feeling in the stomach of Adam Richman, host of the Travel Channel’s “Man vs. Food’’ television show. Richman travels the country, taking on unusual eating challenges.
Wednesday’s episode will include a segment taped at Jethro’s Barbecue in Des Moines. Jethro’s named a sandwich after Emmenecker, the 2008 Missouri Valley player of the year as well as college basketball’s Academic All-American of the Year.
The Emmenecker sandwich consists of a pork tenderloin, an Angus steak burger, slabs of Texas brisket, apple wood bacon and fried cheese, buffalo chicken tenders, melted cheddar cheese and a white cheddar sauce.
Richman attempted to eat the sandwich in 15 minutes. Emmenecker was present during the taping of the show.
The episode will air at 8 p.m. on the Travel Channel.
