Norfolk city admin. out of a job?

WORLD-HERALD NEWS SERVICE

Norfolk’s city administrator may be out of a job.

Mayor Sue Fuchtman has called a special meeting of the City Council Thursday to consider terminating the employment of Al Roder, who was hired two years ago.

Roder was city administrator of Northfield, Minn., from 2006 until taking the post in Norfolk in August 2008.

He filed for personal bankruptcy this spring, citing financial problems arising from the sale of his home in Northfield.

Roder declined comment when contacted Wednesday morning.

Fuchtman also said she would decline to comment about her specific reasons for calling the special meeting.

“I have a responsibility to the citizens of Norfolk to do what I think is in their best interests,” she said. “I’ll be glad when this is all over.”

Councilman Dave Fauss also was asked about the situation.

“The mayor has shown concern in the last month. We’ve had discussions on things she thought were irregularities,” Fauss said. “We talked about it. I didn’t think it would come to this.’’

He declined further comment.
