It’s hard to believe another Omaha Fashion Week has arrived.
The fall showcase of the couture and ready-to-wear work of talented designers in our city officially gets under way Monday. To help you through it, we’ve put together a “need-to-know” primer of who’s who among the runway designers and behind the scenes.
Forty designers will show their collections throughout the week. Make sure to keep an eye out for Kate Walz. She’s the youngest at age 13.
You don’t want to miss two designers — Dan Richters and Claire Landolt — who used recycled materials in their 2009 collections. Richters stitched and glued hundreds of broken CDs to make a glam party dress, and Landolt was known for her newspaper dresses. Who knows what they’ll bring to the platform this year?
“It’s passion that’s driving this,” Executive Director Nick Hudson said of Fashion Week. “You don’t have to just go to a major city to make it. You can make it local here.”
