Report: 45K illegal immigrants in state

LINCOLN - A new nationwide report estimates Nebraska is home to 45,000 illegal immigrants.

The data released this week by the Pew Hispanic Center say illegal immigrants accounted for 2.6 percent of the state’s population and 3.2 percent of its work force.

The center also estimated last year and in 2005 that Nebraska had 45,000 illegal immigrants. In 2000, that number was 30,000.
