    Pelini: QB decision is coming

LINCOLN — The questions keep coming about Nebraska picking a starter at quarterback and head coach Bo Pelini keeps sticking to his same answer.

Asked again Monday morning during the Big 12 teleconference if a decision has been made, Pelini said: “No, not yet. But it’ll be coming.”

Nebraska returns to practice Monday afternoon in preparation for Saturday night’s home game with Western Kentucky. It will continue to look at Zac Lee, Cody Green and Taylor Martinez as potential signal-callers.

Pelini told local reporters Saturday that the Huskers “have our plan,” but hedged a little during the Big 12 call on whether or not a starter already has been determined.

“I have an idea who that’s going to be, but nothing’s been decided yet,” he said. “It’s just kind of our approach that it’s a day-in, day-out competition. When the time’s right, that’s when I’ll address that.”

Asked if that makes it difficult at all to prepare, Pelini said no. And that it’s no different at some other positions.

“That’s kind of how we handle it across the board in our program,” he said. “Our guys understand. We put such a focus on how we practice and how we prepare that our guys are used to it.”

Pelini said he’s ready to see where the Huskers are at when they play the Hilltoppers, “because it’s always different that first game.”

“I’ve liked the progress of our football team through camp,” he said. “Now it’s time to see who’s going to step up when it’s for real.”
