Seen: Quarterback Taylor Martinez, walking off the field after practicing with the Huskers on Friday morning. The redshirt freshman missed Thursday’s workout — an excused absence, according to coach Bo Pelini. “I know where he was,” Pelini said. “Don’t worry about it. That’s no one’s business but ours. There was no concern. Next question.” Martinez is competing with senior Zac Lee and sophomore Cody Green for the No. 1 job.
Heard: “I think we’re getting better in a lot of areas. I really do. I’m seeing progress.” — Pelini
Hurt: Sophomore defensive tackle Faron Klingelhoefer, a walk-on from Amherst, Neb., needs surgery after suffering an unspecified injury. The Huskers will replace him on the 105-man camp roster.
Next: The Huskers return to practice Saturday morning. They’re off Sunday before practicing nine times over the next six days — the heaviest stretch of preseason camp.
