9 p.m.: The Big 12 released a final list of those scheduled to speak at next week's media days, and a new name appeared.
Dan Beebe.
Since the league began, the commissioner has always appeared at some point during the summer media gathering to address the "state of the conference.'' But this summer's first two lists of interviewees found Beebe noticeably absent. His normal slot was slated to go to Bill Hancock of the BCS.
Now, Beebe is on Tuesday's agenda at 2 p.m. So is Walt Anderson, the head of football officiating, 1:30 p.m. Yes, we'll ask. No, he won't answer. Hancock also will talk at noon.
By the way, don't read anything into Nebraska appearing on the first day of the three-day event and Texas on the third. It's not an effort to cool any potential fireworks. Schools request their time as much as six months in advance. And the league always tries for a "name'' school first to get the media folks to show up early, and another "name'' to go last so we stay to the end.
Last year, Nebraska went on Monday and Texas on Wednesday, just like this year.
