LINCOLN — The Husker Sports Network and KFAB have reached a partnership extension that will keep Nebraska football, men's basketball and baseball on the powerful Omaha station through the next five seasons for each.
“The University of Nebraska and KFAB have a longstanding relationship dating back to the 1920s,” said Taylor Walet, general manager for KFAB (1110 AM). “This is more than a business deal for us. The Huskers are part of the family.”
The new agreement began July 1 and will continue until June 30, 2015.
The Husker Sports Network is the multimedia rights partner for NU and an IMG College property. Clear Channel's KTWI-FM will continue as the Omaha outlet for Husker volleyball and women's basketball.
“Aligning with a radio station known for its strong presence in Omaha and across the region is important to University of Nebraska athletics,” NU Athletic Director Tom Osborne said in a statement. “We appreciate KFAB's commitment to supporting the Cornhuskers and are delighted to continue our long and historic bond. Nebraska football Saturdays on KFAB is a great part of our state's culture.”
