LISLE, Ill. — Nebraska Association athletes wrapped up the USA Track and Field Youth Athletics national championship meet Sunday with nine more medal-winning performances.
Two athletes who won national titles earlier in the week at Benedictine University won silver medals on the final day of the six-day meet. Katelyn Gochenour of Logan, Iowa, finished second in the midget girls (ages 11-12) shot put with a toss of 39 ½ feet.
Omaha North senior LaQue Moen-Davis was second in the young women's (17-18) 100-meter hurdles in 14.10 seconds. That time would have been a Nebraska Association record, but the race was run with a tailwind of 5.3 meters per second, well over the allowable 2.0.
Rebekah Topham of Griswold, Iowa, also narrowly missed an association record when she finished third in the youth girls (13-14) 1,500 in 4:41.54. The association record is 4:40.40 by Emily Sisson, the former Omaha Marian and Millard North runner who won the USATF Junior Nationals last month.
