Next week, ServeNebraska and local leaders will begin a six-city “Listening Tour” to hear from Nebraskans about community needs and potential solutions.

• 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. MDT Tuesday at Western Nebraska Community College's Harms Center in Scottsbluff;
• 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. MDT June 23 at the Sandhills Convention Center in Quality Inn & Suites in North Platte;
• 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. CDT June 24 in the Dahlia Room of the Ramada Inn & Convention Center in Kearney.
Locations and dates for later stops, all from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. CDT, are:
• June 29 in the West Room of the Scott Conference Center at the University of Nebraska at Omaha;
• July 6 in the West Education Building at Central Community College in Columbus;

Now's the time to tell the Division of Behavioral Health what you think should be included in the strategic plan for Nebraska's behavioral health system for the next three to five years.

The draft strategic plan will be available for review this fall. It builds on the vision developed by the Behavioral Health Oversight Commission, whose members were appointed by the governor.
Pender celebrating its 125th with BBQ
A barbecue contest that begins Friday is part of the Q-125 celebration in Pender, Neb. That's shorthand for the city's 125th anniversary, or quasquicentennial.
The event, sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, will finish Saturday with judging at noon at the Pender Legion Hall.
Food and live entertainment will start at 7 p.m. Friday under the big tent.

Quilter's Guild shows off its work
The Omaha Quilters Guild's 32nd annual show will be Friday through Sunday at the La Vista Conference Center, 12520 Westport Parkway.
“Spoken Without a Word ... the Message Within the Quilt” will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $6, but $5 for students and persons older than 65.
Proceeds from the show are used for charitable activities, including an annual cash donation to the Children's Emergency Fund/Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services.

Big band dance Saturday in Atlantic
The musical group Popcorn Button will give dancers a night of classic big band music starting at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Atlantic (Iowa) High School commons.
Step One will include dance lessons in various styles for all participants of any age from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Open dancing will be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. Dance lessons do not require registration. Donations will be collected at the door to help defray the cost of the event.
