KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) - The University of Nebraska at Kearney says its Department of Music and Performing Arts has been given gifts totaling nearly $2 million from an anonymous donor.
The university said in a news release that $500,000 will endow a chair in the music department. It will be called the Ronald J. Crocker Chair in Orchestra. Crocker is a professor of music and performing arts at UNK, and he directs the Kearney Symphony Orchestra. He’s in his 43rd year at the college.
The donor has provided $1.4 million in the past several years for scholarships.
The college says the donor also will provide $100,000 more if other people or groups donate $150,000. The money would be used to recruit music students.
