5:31 p.m.: Matt O'Hanlon found an NFL home immediately after the draft concluded Saturday.
The former Nebraska safety signed a free-agent contract with Carolina. O'Hanlon will report Thursday for a three-day rookie mini-camp with the Panthers.
"You want to get drafted," O'Hanlon said. "Who wouldn't want to get drafted? But this might work out for the best."
O'Hanlon said he had four or five teams call and say they might take him in the seventh round. Carolina, he said, was among three top places on his list.
"I had at least 10 places I could choose from," he said. "Carolina was by far the best situation."
