ConAgra Foods announced Monday that it acquired Elan Nutrition, a privately owned manufacturer of weight-loss and protein bars.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Omaha-based ConAgra said in a statement that the deal was “relatively small” and will not alter the company’s earnings guidance.
Sun Capital Partners Inc. had owned Elan Nutrition, based in Grand Rapids, Mich., since 2003.
ConAgra already produces a number of cereal and snack bars, but this acquisition allows it to better target dieters and consumers with special nutrition requirements.
Elan Nutrition’s Grand Rapids plant was included in the deal and now will operate as a ConAgra facility, the company said.
