LINCOLN — The new contracts signed by Nebraska football assistant coaches and released Monday include two potential bonuses for academic achievements by the team.
If fully reached, they could total $20,000 more in pay.
Each of the nine would receive $10,000 if the four-year rolling graduation rate for the football program is equal to or greater than the NU student body. Also, for Academic Progress Rates, a 930 APR or better for the football team would net $2,500, a 940 or better would be $5,000, and a 950 or better would be $10,000.
The other “exceptional performance” bonuses did not change. Those include each assistant being due one-twenty-fourth of his salary for NU winning or sharing a Big 12 North title, then one of the following for bowl games: one-twelfth of salary for any bowl, one-sixth of salary for a BCS game or one-fourth of salary for a national championship.
All contracts were two-year deals.
Also, NU strength and conditioning coach James Dobson was among the assistants receiving pay raises, seeing an increase to $156,720.
Head coach Bo Pelini was paid $1.1 million his first year as head coach in 2008. That figure was reported incorrectly in some editions of Tuesday's paper.
