NFL analysts' All-America candidates included NU talent

6:05 p.m.: Thought you had seen all the All-America teams? Pro Football Weekly just released its list – and it's a little different than the rest.

Pro Football Weekly bases its picks on "considerable feedback from NFL evaluators taking into consideration a player's pure talent and contribution to his team." PFW also places an extra premium on "draft value" in its process.

One of the All-America picks, of course, was Nebraska senior defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Also of interest, however, was NU cornerback Prince Amukamara, safety Larry Asante, linebacker Phillip Dillard and defensive tackle Jared Crick all receiving honorable mention when Pro Football Weekly only bestowed that status on a limited number of players.

Texas' Colt McCoy was the quarterback and Clemson's C.J. Spiller the tailback (ahead of Mark Ingram and Toby Gerhart) on the PFW All-America team. Sean Weatherspoon of Missouri and Sergio Kindle of Texas were the outside linebacker – and a total of nine Big 12 players were first-team selections.

Another notable first-team pick was South Florida defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, a heavy Nebraska JUCO recruiting target before signing with USF.

Pierre-Paul still has one year of eligibility left with Bulls, but he's reportedly checking with the NFL's advisory panel for insight. Here's what ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay said about the 6-foot-6, 260-pound defensive end today:

“Really, with (defensive end) George Selvie being the name of that defensive front and that defense, (Pierre-Paul) out-played Selvie leaps and bounds week in and week out. I think Jason Pierre-Paul has a chance to be a first round pick as a result. Maybe, worst case, early second round.”
