Defensive end Jerry Hughes of TCU won the Lott Trophy last night in California, something of an upset after Ndamukong Suh claimed every other defensive award for which he was nominated.
Suh actually canceled his cross-country trip in the hours after the Heisman Trophy presentation Saturday. All the travel finally caught up to him, and he's got final exams to take this week in Lincoln.
Suh and the Huskers return to practice this week for their most intense period of preparation for the Dec. 30 Holiday before arriving in San Diego on Christmas Day.
We'll turn our attention back to items other than Suh's awards. NU must continue to address its offensive issues. Also, recruiting has hit high gear, though the weather's not cooperating much in letting the Huskers show prospects a good time in Lincoln.
Touted running back Braylon Heard of Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney visited Lincoln last week. He's reconsidering his commitment to West Virginia. The Huskers, of course, have major influence at the high school, alma mater to coach Bo Pelini, defensive coordinator Carl Pelini, running backs coach Tim Beck and freshman receiver Tim Marlowe.
Stop by the Big Red Page at noon for a live chat about NU football.
