IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A man has been charged with assault after police say he allegedly bit an employee of a bar in downtown Iowa City.
Police say 22-year-old Meredyth Rice is accused of biting the worker at the Union Bar early Sunday.
The worker told police that he and another staffer were escorting Rice from the bar when Rice became violent. Police say he bit the worker on the shoulder and back.
Rice remained in the Johnson County jail early Monday on a 5,000 cash-only bond. The sheriff’s office didn’t know if he had an attorney.
