AMES, Iowa — Business Week magazine has named Ames one of its “Best Places to Raise Your Kids” in an annual survey conducted throughout the United States.
Business Week writer Prashant Gopal said Ames was picked, in part, because of the presence of Iowa State University, the city’s recreational offerings and its “good schools.”
Ames finished ahead of two other Iowa cities, West Des Moines and Dubuque, in the rankings, with statistics that included a population of 53,000 and a median family income of $78,000.
Tinley Park, a suburb southwest of Chicago, scored the highest of all the cities in the judging criteria.
