Giltner vs. Howells

• Setting the stage: Howells is the defending champion and has won this class the past seven years it's been eligible. Giltner is playing for its first title in a quarter-century.

• When Giltner has the ball: Nate Most leads the most sophisticated passing offense in eight man, throwing for 2,759 yards and 51 TDs against five interceptions. He's also run for 19 touchdowns and almost 700 yards. Shay Hinrichs is his top receiver, with 20 TDs and 1,189 yards. All of that puts pressure on the Bobcats' secondary. Its interception leader, with seven, is Sam Schlautman.

• When Howells has the ball: The Bobcats go to the other extreme, throwing only 26 passes all season, while battering teams with their O-line and senior RB Clint Belina. He has back-to-back 2,000-yard seasons, in which his TD total is up to 90. Giltner's run defense is giving up 200 yards a game.

• Final words: Giltner is unlikely to slow down Belina and Co., which means that the Hornets have to win a high-scoring game. If Most gets time to throw, Howells' defense could be tested. But the pick here is the team of the decade.
