The promise of an autographed book from Jeff Koterba drew more than 200 responses from creative readers. There were some themes: Variations on “moon rocks,” “moonwalking,” “air (or no air) guitars,” and song lyrics about space and the moon were popular choices.

“I was surprised by the creativity of the entries,” said Koterba.

Below are some of Koterba's favorites, with an autographed copy of “Inklings” going to Karen Daake of Riverdale, Neb.

“There's a bad Earth on the rise.”

Karen Daake

“One stellar note for Les Paul, one rockin' song for musicians, man!”

Joan Norman Becker, Omaha

“Hey, Keith, now the Stones have played every possible venue.”

R.F. Corderman, Bedford, Iowa

“Can't we just TALK to ground control, Major Tom?”

Charles Kramer, Lincoln

“We've got to talk to our agent about this booking.”

Hal Capps, Omaha

“I don't think Mom and Dad will complain about the racket if we play here.”

Robert Balash, Bellevue

“How about . . . ‘Stairway to Heaven?'”

Grace Schmidt, Bellevue

“These heavy metal lyrics don't carry as much weight up here.”

Howard Mattix, Omaha

“OK, let's sing it again . . . ‘Country roads, take me home . . . to the place I belong. . .”

Jeannie Messing, Nebraska City

“Do you think they can hear us?”
