NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. (AP) A 24-year-old Nebraska City man faces felony child-abuse and assault charges, accused of using a cigarette to burn his girlfriend's 7-year-old daughter.
The Otoe County Attorney's Office says Joseph Jones Jr. burned the girl four times three time on one of her lower legs and once on her chest. Jones has a preliminary hearing Monday on the charges.
His girlfriend, 36-year-old Bridget Person, recently pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault for hitting her 13-year-old son with her fist. Her sentencing has been set for Dec. 21.
