Volleyball: Bellevue to meet Peru State in semifinal

No. 1-seeded Bellevue University will host No. 4 Peru State on Friday at 8 p.m. in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament semifinals.

In the other semifinal on the Bruins’ home court at the Lozier Center, No. 3-seeded College of St. Mary will take on No. 2 College of the Ozarks at 6 p.m. Friday. The championship final is set for noon at the Lozier Center.

Bellevue (27-6) finished 14-0 in the MCAC, while Peru State (14-18) compiled an 8-6 league record. CSM’s Flames were 17-18 overall and 9-5 in the conference, while Ozarks finished 24-10 and 12-2.

Bellevue, meanwhile, swept this week’s MCAC awards, with Rachel Muller earning hitter of the week honors, Jordan Broady claiming setter of the week and Katy Gregory gaining libero of the week.

Muller averaged 4.44 kills, 4.33 digs and 0.67 total blocks per game last week in three victories. Against the College of St. Mary, she had 16 kills, 10 digs and four blocks.

Broady averaged 13.71 assists, 3.29 digs and 1.14 kills per game. In a 3-0 sweep of Ozarks, she had 49 assists and 12 digs. Gregory averaged 5.22 digs per game and collected 22 digs against Ozarks.
