Dennis Sell in a photo taken at the Nebraska State Penitentiary

Dawson Co. killer dies in prison

LINCOLN -- A Dawson County man who killed two women died Saturday at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln.

Dennis Sell was serving a life sentence for the 1977 murders of two mothers. He served nearly nearly 32 years. He died of natural causes at the age of 64, according to the prison.

Sell killed Judith Dangler of Lexington and Ruth Eby of Overton.

One day in February 1977, Dangler dropped her two little girls off at their two-room school in rural Dawson County, then disappeared. Investigators found no clues.

Seven months later, another Dawson County mother vanished in much the same way. But this time, clues were left behind, and the evidence eventually led to Sell. He confessed to killing both women.
