Family fest features top national names in blues, jazz, gospel

National talent is on tap at this weekend’s Omaha Blues, Jazz and Gospel Festival.

The family festival includes such top-notch entertainment as smooth jazz performer Marion Meadows, violinist Karen Briggs and soul-jazz flutist Althea René.

The music festival starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Joslyn Art Museum, 2200 Dodge St. Tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for students. Information: 707-8915.

The festival also helps benefit various local organizations. Proceeds from ticket sales go toward nonprofit groups, including the National Kidney Foundation, the Hope Center and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
