St. Vincent DePaul Elementary School media specialist Carol Nish has received the Nebraska Educational Media Association’s “Sound Off for Media” award.
St. Vincent DePaul principal Barbara Marchese said the award was given to a media specialist who is making a positive difference in their school.
“Carol runs a wonderful library,” Marchese said. “She’s very good at instructing the students about the opportunities that media can offer.”
Nish also coordinates author visits to the school, hosts a quiz bowl event for readers and has instituted noon book clubs for the students.
“She really tries to get kids excited about reading and tries a variety of ways to do it,” Marchese said.
