The Omaha Public Works Department will close 69th Street southbound from Burt Street on Thursday to improve traffic flow during the Douglas County Health Department H1N1 vaccination clinic.
The clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 7020 Cass Street. Some 5,000 injectable and nasal mist vaccinations will be given.
Saturday, the Sarpy/Cass Department of Health & Wellness will hold an H1N1 vaccination clinic from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Calvary Christian Church in Bellevue. The church is at Cornhusker and Cedar Island Roads.
In both cases, the clinics are for people at highest risk of complications from having H1N1 flu. Those people include pregnant women, people six months through 24 years of age, people who live with or care for babies younger than six months of age, health care and emergency service providers, and people 25 through 64 years of age with chronic medical conditions.
Vaccinations at both clinics are free.
For Thursday’s clinic, the Public Works Department recommended that those on 72nd Street turn east onto Cass Street, then north onto 69th Street. Parking will be available at the site and at Temple Israel, the Omaha Community Playhouse, and Lewis and Clark Middle School.
