Guard unit schedules town hall meetings
The Nebraska National Guard wants to keep families, employers and town leaders up to date on coming mobilizations.
So the 67th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, also called the Pike Brigade, has scheduled several 7 p.m. town hall meetings statewide. The schedule:
Thursday at the North Platte Readiness Center; Monday at the North Omaha Readiness Center, 11650 Rainwood Road; Nov. 12 at the Spirit of 1776 Armory in Lincoln; and Nov. 19 at the Readiness Center in Hastings.
Workshops to explain Weed & Seed program
Everything you ever wanted to know about the Weed and Seed program will be answered at a technical assistance workshop next week. Besides answering questions about Weed and Seed, the workshop will also show how to get involved.
The workshop is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 12 and 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 13 in the multipurpose room at Family Housing Advisory Services Inc., 24th and Lake Streets.
RSVPs are required by Saturday to Theola Cooper, 444-6906. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Speaker to discuss leadership styles
“It's a Jungle Out There: Leadership Styles and Behavioral Tendencies” will be the “learn” portion of Impact CB's Lunch & Learn on Friday. Leslie Barnes, director of student-athlete development at Duke University, and Cricket Lane, assistant director of athletics for student athletic development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will speak at the noon to 1:15 p.m. event.

Westerners speaker to discuss World War I
U.S. entry into World War I will be the speaker's topic at Thursday's monthly dinner meeting of the Omaha Corral of Westerners International.
Eli Paul, formerly with the Nebraska State Historical Society and now a vice president at the World War I Museum in Kansas City, Mo., will speak.

The social hour will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Caniglia's Venice Inn, 70th and Pacific Streets.
