    Tracking the defense

    NU STAR

Outstanding job by Jared Crick, who put up Ndamukong Suh-like numbers with five sacks and 13 total tackles. The sophomore defensive tackle had at least one sack in each quarter and consistently pursued Baylor quarterback Nick Florence even when he didn't make plays.

    HIGHLIGHT

With Dejon Gomes and Matt O'Hanlon putting double coverage on Kendall Wright, Gomes intercepted Florence in the end zone with 2:12 left in the first quarter to protect a 10-0 lead.

    BUSTED PLAY

Baylor converted a third-and-18 in the third quarter when Wright barely got separation from Eric Hagg on a slant pattern. Wright tipped a pass to himself and completed a 28-yard play to the Husker 22-yard line.

    OUR TAKE

Nebraska held a seventh straight opponent below 300 total yards (276) but allowed Baylor to make some plays. The performance of Crick was special, and Gomes and Prince Amukamara made plays on interceptions. The defense once again showed it can keep the team in any game.
