Class will inform about H1N1 flu
Trying to separate fact from fiction about the flu?
“Facts About the Flu,” a class in the Parenting U series, is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Glow Auditorium at Children's Hospital & Medical Center, 8200 Dodge St.
Dr. Archana Chatterjee will discuss the H1N1 flu, how it differs from seasonal influenza and what parents need to know. Chatterjee is division chief for pediatric infectious diseases at Creighton University School of Medicine and epidemiologist for Children's Hospital.
“Facts About the Flu” is free. Seating is limited, so registration is required by going to www.ChildrensOmaha.org. Look for Parenting U on the right side of the home page. Parents also can register by phone, 1-800-833-3100.
Wrestlers aim to raise autism awareness
Wrestlers at Dana College in Blair, Neb., will offer Pinning Down Autism, a takedown tournament, Sunday to raise awareness and funding for the Autism Society of Nebraska.
The tournament is for all age groups. There also will be a raffle, information about autism spectrum disorders and a kids carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Proceeds will benefit the Autism Society and Pinning Down Autism.

Health screenings to empower women
The Empower Project is an initiative to provide free health education and health care screenings to women who are victims of domestic violence in the Omaha area.
The goal of the YWCA-University of Nebraska Medical Center project is to empower women through knowledge of their personal health.
The next event is Monday. Health screenings and educational sessions take place at the YWCA, 222 S. 29th St., from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month.
Highway 14 group to discuss tourism
The Highway 14 Association Inc. will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the 14/91 Junction Restaurant in Albion, Neb. The meeting should end at 2 p.m.
