Kiley Cruse/THE WORLD-HERALD
Published Friday October 30, 2009A few visitors were turned away from The Holy Family Shrine on Friday so the Douglas County crime lab could investigate a burglary.
Someone broke open the door to the Roman Catholic chapel near Gretna and stole money from the donation box, said Capt. Monty Daganaar of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office.
He said an inside door to an office area was also damaged.
Matt Sakowski, the shrine’s caretaker, said the break-in likely occurred Thursday night. He said the estimated damage is about $700. He said it was unknown how much money was stolen.
