One critical in crash

A man was flown to the Nebraska Medical Center on Friday afternoon after he was injured in a one-car crash east of Council Bluffs.

His identity and condition at the hospital were not immediately available.

The man had been driving an older-model Volkswagen Beetle on Cottonwood Road, north of Greenview Road, when the car went out of control and landed on its side, said Sgt. Christopher Weber of the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver had been using a seat belt, Weber said.

The crash’s cause was under investigation Friday night.
