10:14 p.m. Curtis Carter of Stonewall, La., accepted a Nebraska scholarship offer tonight, the 10th prospect to say he'll sign with the Huskers in February.
Carter, 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, plays quarterback at North DeSoto High School. He wants to play two positions at NU: Wide receiver in football, and center field in baseball.
“I've made up my mind,” Carter said, “I'm going to do it.”
He would follow fellow Louisianan and two-sport Husker Khiry Cooper, who caught his first touchdown pass in the Huskers' 31-10 loss to Texas Tech Saturday with Carter in attendance.
“It's what's best for me,” Carter said. “It came down to a point where I had to think about me, what place would suit me right – not what was best for Alabama or Mississippi State.”
Carter had offers from the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs of the Southeastern Conference, plus Missouri and TCU, among others.
Rivals.com rates him as a four-star prospect and the No. 19 player nationally at his position. Carter is rated as a two-star recruit by scout.com.
