    Pelini on Helu: 'He's fine'

Filed by Rich Kaipust at 8:48 p.m.

Bo Pelini wouldn't get into the specifics of Roy Helu's injury, but the Nebraska coach said tonight that he expects his junior I-back to be ready for Texas Tech on Saturday.

"No issues. He's fine,'' Pelini said. "Just like anything else, he took a hit or a fall. He'll practice tomorrow, more than likely.''

Helu was favoring his right shoulder after a 41-yard run late in the 27-12 win at Missouri on Thursday night. He motioned to come out but stayed to score the Huskers' final touchdown on a 5-yard run the next play.

Helu finished with 88 yards on 18 carries, and leads the Big 12 at 110.4 yards per game and 6.1 per carry.

Although Helu confirmed after the Missouri game that he traveled separate from the team to Columbia, Pelini declined to say what other plays made the trip Thursday morning. Pelini again downplayed the extent of any illness going through the team.

"We have guys get sick all the time,'' he said. "It wasn't H1N1. It wasn't all that. They're college kids. We've got 140 kids. Why it got blown out of proportion last week, I don't know.''
