    Huskers surging in rankings

Momentum continued to accumulate for Nebraska as the Huskers jumped six spots to No. 15 in the Associated Press Top 25 and five spots to 17th in the coaches poll on Sunday.

The AP ranking is the highest for NU since September 2007 and one spot from matching its highest since 2003. The 4-1 Huskers jumped Auburn and Mississippi, plus four teams that won Saturday — Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Brigham Young.

By vaulting three Big 12 teams, NU is the second-highest ranked league team in the AP behind No. 3 Texas.

Nebraska apparently turned heads with its 27-12 comeback win at Missouri Thursday night on national TV.

A pair of prominent recruits, defensive end Chase Rome and offensive tackle Tyler Moore, pledged to Nebraska over the weekend. And Sunday, senior nose tackle Ndamukong Suh was named the national defensive player of the week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

NU will face 4-2 Texas Tech Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
