LINCOLN — Nebraska coach Bo Pelini said Sunday night the Huskers expect to have the services of Big 12 rushing leader Roy Helu on Saturday.
Helu was favoring his right shoulder after a 41-yard run late in the 27-12 win at Missouri on Thursday night. The junior was motioning to come out, but stayed to score on a 5-yard run on the next play.
“No issues. He's fine,'' Pelini said. “Just like anything else, he took a hit or a fall. He'll practice tomorrow, more than likely.''
Pelini would not specify if Helu suffered a bruise or some other sort of damage to the shoulder.
Nebraska took Friday and Saturday off before going through its normal Sunday routine. The Huskers play host to Texas Tech at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Pelini downplayed the extent of any illness going through the team before the Missouri game, and declined to name the other Huskers that traveled Thursday morning with Helu to Columbia.
“We have guys get sick all the time,'' he said. “It wasn't H1N1. It wasn't all that. They're college kids. We've got 140 kids. Why it got blown out of proportion last week, I don't know.''
