LINCOLN — Another state senator has announced his intention to seek re-election.
State Sen. Kent Rogert of Tekamah, who represents northeast Nebraska’s District 16, said Thursday he’d seek a second term in 2010 and plans a formal announcement on Monday.
Rogert, a 37-year-old Democrat, pushed through a bill this year to provide compensation for those wrongly convicted of crimes in Nebraska, but was unsuccessful in seeking to legalize alcohol at state parks.
He also helped craft a compromise bill that allows the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District to issue bonds for flood-control projects. Rogert won some concessions for his Washington County constituents who worried that the NRD would be taking their land for large reservoirs.
Besides parts of Washington County, District 16 includes all of Stanton, Burt, Cuming and Thurston Counties.
